The Festival also opens up to a work of European Baroque. The seed sown by Monteverdi with L’Orfeo, matured with Cavalli and exported by him to France, also reaches England and finds its greatest representative in Purcell.

In the precious setting of the Teatro Bibiena in Mantua, a high-level cast is led by Michele Pasotti with the Orchestra and Choir La Fonte Musica.
Standing out in the cast are the Chilean-Swedish mezzo-soprano Luciana Mancini (Dido), the baritone Mauro Borgioni (Aeneas), the soprano Carlotta Colombo (Belinda), and the contralto Margherita Maria Sala (Sorceress).
