The heart of an archaic sound… recreating it after reading treatises and manuals, thinking it on your own instrument, then finally finding it in a marginal area of the globe, where music tradition has been preserved authentic and pure as in the past. The traditional singing of Orosei in Sardinia – recently declared Unesco world heritage – is one of those areas. As described in Paul Fenkart’s documentary, Vittorio Ghielmi’s project is a crossover challenge: a short-circuit between Italian Renaissance music and Sardinian traditional repertoire, thus discovering a true way of being, the mirror of our souls.
