Between the Bachian meditations of the Brazilian Villa-Lobos and the genius of Astor Piazzolla, who flirts with tango and the great music of the past, no fewer than 12 cellists (from the world’s most famous orchestra) remind us of the origin of music in intertwining, dialogue, and play—between voices, between parts that come together to create an unpredictable magic.

A refined and provocative program thus brings together the early and late twentieth-century culture of Debussy and Pärt with the finest film music of Rota and Morricone.
