Description

Decisione Consapevole, the choreographic project by Roberto Tedesco (winner of the 2024 Danza&Danza Award for Emerging Italian Choreographer), was created as a conceptual map to guide instant improvisation sessions, serving to establish a structure to follow, a reference point for building a choreographic work in which four dancers engage with their choices. An empty space, to be filled and liberated through their awareness and the potential of their decisions. Isolation, Intimacy, Communication, Community: four keywords guide four bodies, in a field of action so dense and defined that it leaves no room for anything but the self and the encounter with the other.

The possibilities that each single word suggests are endless. From this arises the necessary awareness of the gesture.

In the choreographic structure, an unexpected and unconscious moment of nostalgia bursts forth suddenly. Memories of childhood, snapshots of frivolous adolescence, and indelible scents of home resurface in an absolutely involuntary and at the same time pure way—scents that spread across the stage, continuously and incessantly altering the state of the work.
