The Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (UICI) of Cremona, with the support of the Municipality of Cremona, the Teatro Ponchielli, Cariplo, the Institute for the Blind of Milan, the Fondazione Banca Popolare di Cremona and the Fantigrafica Company is pleased to announce an event of great social value: the musical Mamma Mia! …here we go again, on stage of the Teatro Ponchielli of Cremona on Sunday 10 November at 4:00 pm.

The show is organized with the aim of raising funds and public awareness of the importance of the full implementation of the human, civil and social rights of blind and visually impaired people.

Description

The performance, staged by the Operazione Musical Company of Soresina, promises an evening of fun, thanks to an exciting mix of singing, dancing and acting.

Mamma Mia! …here we go again is an enthusiastic show that re-proposes the greatest hits of ABBA, adapted into Italian, accompanied by an engaging plot.

But this event has an added value: thanks to the ‘Con Altri Occhi’ project, the show will also be made accessible to people with visual disabilities. Through a live audio description system via earphones, blind and visually impaired spectators will be able to “see” by listening to the details of the scene, the costumes, the movements of the actors and other visual elements of the performance. This technique allows for a narration that does not interfere with the dialogue and the songs, offering a complete enjoyment of the work.

In addition, before the show, the visually impaired audience will have the opportunity to take a Tactile Tour and touch the sets and costumes, to familiarize themselves with the stage environment. A program in Braille will also be available, to accompany spectators in the discovery of the characters and the plot.

The initiative is carried out in collaboration with I.Ri.Fo.R. Onlus, the non-profit organization of the UICI, which for years has been committed to supporting families with visually impaired / multi-disabled children and young people. The funds raised through this event will help support the many activities promoted by I.Ri.Fo.R., which currently supports around a hundred families throughout the region, including those in the province of Cremona.
