Description

In the rich suburbs of Bari, the death of Clara Salvemini, daughter of an influential building developer, opens a window on the lack of affection and power relations within the good bourgeoisie. The portrait of the contradictions and violence of Southern Italy opens up to the gaze of Michele, Clara’s half-brother, who has returned to reconstruct his sister’s life to discover the causes of her death.
It is his story that encloses the story of a family, of a city, of the sins of the fathers which are reflected in the weaknesses of the children and in the ferocity of power and money that marks the time we are living in. Feeding on the noir and gothic atmospheres of Nicola Lagioia’s novel, winner of the Strega Prize and the Mondello Prize in 2015, it stages the triumph and ruin of the blind rage of the West.
The directors Michele Altamura and Gabriele Paolocà give life to a show with a disruptive and sharp aesthetic which, with the same lucidity and irony, gives a portrait of our country.
