Not far from Barcelona, the Monastery of Montserrat, one of the most spiritual venues in Europe, rises on an enchanting peak and is dedicated to the Black Madonna, patron saint of Catalonia since 1881. The 14th-century manuscript Llibre Vermell is preserved here, saved from the Napoleonic sack. Jordi Savall and his ensemble bring back to life the splendid collection of medieval dances, virelai, canons and liturgical songs written to welcome the pilgrims after their long journey.
