The opening concert of the CASA PONCHIELLI review 2025 will feature the String Quartet of the Bazzini Consort Orchestra, which will take us on a fascinating journey between deep emotions and unforgettable melodies, through a program that unites masterpieces from great composers of Italian verismo, from Ponchielli’s lyricism to Puccini’s poignant elegies. The quartet will interpret intense sounds with Giovanni Bottesini’s ‘Quartetto No. 6 in E minor’ and will also offer some lesser-known gems such as Ponchielli’s ‘Quartettino’ and ‘Quartetto in one movement’, revealing the refined compositional art of the Cremonese Maestro. The Ridotto of the Teatro Ponchielli will host the concert as a typical aristocratic salon of 19th-century Italy, where the occasion will be unique to immerse in the heart of Italian music, between Romanticism and Verismo, in an atmosphere of intimate and engaging listening.
