Cremona, 9-15 June 2025
The Teatro Amilcare Ponchielli Foundation of Cremona organizes, as part of the next Monteverdi Festival edition, a residence of early music, with the intention of deepening the repertoire of the XVI and XVII centuries in Italy with reference to the figure of Claudio Monteverdi, according to a historically informed practice.
– The workshop will be held according to the schedule shared at the time of convocation. The lessons and the moments of study will be held from Monday to Saturday. The final concert will be on Sunday 15 June morning.
– The workshop is aimed to instrumental and vocal formations, or vocal only, composed of young musicians aged between 18 and 40 years, open to all citizens EU or non-EU; the average age of the group must not exceed 30 years.
– Preference will be given to ensembles presenting an exclusive repertoire of Monteverdi.
– The repertoire submitted to the Workshop must not exceed 50 minutes of music and must be attached to the application.
– A maximum of 2 ensembles composed of a variable number of elements between 3 and 8 will be admitted to the Academy.
– During the workshop there will be moments of theoretical reflection on the treatises of the time, elements of organology, basso continuo and musical philology.
SELECTION PROCESS
– Participants will be selected based on a five-minute audio or video recording and a detailed curriculum vitae.
– Applications, including the CV, must be submitted by 12:00 a.m. on Monday, 21 April, to lorenzo.delpecchia@teatroponchielli.it.
– Successful candidates will be notified by email by Monday, 19 May. Auditors may also be admitted with the approval of the theatre’s management.
CONDITIONS
– Participation is free of charge and attendance is mandatory. The admitted participants must guarantee their participation to the workshop and to the final concert scheduled for the morning of Sunday 15 June.
– To the participants who’ll demand, an accommodation will be guarantee in a double or triple room in a lodging selected by the Direction of the Theatre for a total of 6 nights. Others kind of reimbursement won’t be provided.
– No compensation is foreseen for the performance of the final concert on June 15th.
