CMC – Cavalli Monteverdi Competition
CMC is a new international baroque singing competition named after Francesco Cavalli from Crema and Claudio Monteverdi from Cremona, the fathers of baroque opera, made possible by Associazione Bottesini of Crema and the Teatro Ponchielli of Cremona.
The Competition will enhance a unique artistic and musical heritage, creating a synergic bridge between territories, traditions, and institutions.
The project is part of a true renaissance of Baroque opera, stimulating and encouraging young artists to specialise in this genre.
2025 EDITION
The Jury will consist of artistic directors and casting managers from leading theatrical institutions, as well as conductors who are specialists in the repertoire.

Prizes
The prizes are roles in the Operas L’incoronazione di Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi and Le nozze di Teti e Peleo by Francesco Cavalli, forecasted in the Monteverdi Festival 2026.
As well as cash prizes:
– First prize: €5,000 (five thousand/00)
– Second prize: €3,000 (three thousand/00)
– Third prize: €1,500 (one thousand five hundred/00)
– Premio La Spagna, offered by La Spagna Ensemble, concert with the ensemble on 2026
– Premio Lira d’Orfeo, partecipation to a concert on the Festival Orfeo Week
